Celebrity Profile: Grace Kelly

Patricia Kelly, known by the stage name “Grace Kelly” was an American film actress and also a real life princess.

Patricia was born into a rich and influential family. Her father had a successful business and ran for mayor of Philadelphia and her mother was a housewife and civic activist. As a teenager she modeled in local charity events. Her favorite actors growing up were Ingrid Bergman and Joseph Cotton.

Grace Kelly started her career very early when she was only 20 years old. She began acting in the theater in New York and later switched to television and cinema.

Her real success came between the years 1952 and 1956 when she starred in a number of very successful films such as: Mogambo, the Country Girl, High Noon and High Society. She was also one of Alfred Hitchkok’s favorites and acted in: Dial M for Murder, Rear Window and to Catch a Thief.

In 1956, at the age of 26, she quit acting and married Prince Rainier of Monaco. Rainier and Grace had three children together: Princess Caroline, Prince Albert, and princess Stephanie. Despite Hitchkok’s desperate attempts to convince Princess Grace to get back to acting, she never did.

Patricia Kelly tragically died on September 14, 1982 at the age of 52 as a result of injuries she suffered in a car accident while driving home with her daughter Stephanie. She is still considered one of the most famous actresses in the history of cinema and is listed 13th among the Greatest Female Stars of Classical Hollywood Cinema.
