Future Perfect Simple
- The Future Perfect Simple connects the present and the future together by relating to an action that starts in the present but will have been completed and will have a result\implication in the future.
- Let’s examine the following sentence: “I will have seen the new Star Wars movie by the end of this month. The speakers is maybe trying to tell us that he will have watched all the movies in the series by the end of the month or that alternatively he will be able to tell us something about it once he’s finished watching it (We connected the present and the future together - the beginning of the month and its end).
We use the Future Perfect Simple to talk about:
- Accomplishments up until a point in time in the future. (American and British English)
- Superlatives in the future. (American and British English)
- Situations – from the present until a point in time in the future. (American and British English)
- How much will have been completed of a task. (American and British English)
- Changes that will affect the future. (American and British English)
- How many times something will have happened until a point in time in the future. (American and British English)

Future Perfect Simple Rules:
subject + will + have + v3
By tomorrow, I will have seen all the movies in the library.
- We use the d,ed,ied verb form in regular verbs instead of the v3(broken). (I will have studied).
- Unlike do,does,did, have\has auxiliaries do not cancel conjugation of the main verb.
– I won’t (will not) see all the movies in the library. (see- the main verb in the sentence)
– I don’t (do not) usually see all the movies in the library. (see- the main verb in the sentence)
– I didn’t (did not) see all the movies in the library. (see – the main verb in the sentence)
– I won’t (will not) have seen all the movies in the library by next week. (see – the main verb in the sentence)
Common time expressions in the Future Perfect Simple:
by 2008,2009, by the end of _______ , ever, for, since, already, yet.
